Anza Borrego Desert State Park

I was finally able to take a drive out to East San Diego County, through Julian and all the way out to the Anza Borrego Desert State Park. The idea was to stop and have breakfast with the niecees and nephews in Julian, and then head on out to checkout the desert super bloom. Although the famous desert super bloom was winding down, I was definitely not disappointed with the fantastic views and amazing nature that I was able to witness and share with the kids!

The desert super bloom is best in early spring, and provides incredible seas of colorful, captivating wildflowers in full bloom. Be sure to check out all of the posts online to pick the best times and locations to head out, as there are so many in this huge, state park. The Anza Borrego Desert State Park is also home to over 130 full sized, metal sculptures scattered throughout the park. These life sized tributes to the animals that once roamed the desert make incredible back drops when shooting long exposure Milky Way compositions, and the secluded park makes it the perfect location away from the big city lights.
