Professional photographer and videographer, Jerry Roxas, has always been focused on building business and relationships that matter throughout his long career. Born and raised in San Diego, Jerry started his professional career in information technology, working for a small mortgage servicing company on Miramar Road. As he rose through the ranks, he was fortunate enough to be mentored by some very patient and willing executives, who took him under their wings and engrained in him the drive, dedication and focus to build a successful career. After six years of working for various companies, Jerry finally took the plunge and started his own consulting firm. Coming from a financial services background, he focused his efforts on working with consumer debt portfolios, eventually co-founding and selling three separate companies.
Unfortuunately, Jerry’s early success came at a cost. He worked long hours and made many sacrifices, which eventually culminated in a very sudden, traumatic and life altering medical event in January of 2014. During his long recovery, Jerry took stock of his life and priorities, and he decided to make some serious changes. Unable to work for several months, he took up digital photography as a hobby as he readjusted his priorities. He watched thousands of hours of video tutorials, read numerous articles, blogs and books on the subject, and invested heavily in a wide variety of cameras and equipment to fuel his new found passion. Surprisingly, he found that people enjoyed his view of life as captured through his lens. In January of 2015, Jerry decided to marry his professional background with his newly found creative passion, and Fotility was born.
Like most of his prior ventures, Jerry didn’t take up becoming a full time photographer lightly. He did a lot of research on the field, looked into the barriers of entry, identified the challenges and pitfalls, who his competitors were, and how he could offer the best possible service for the most reasonable price. Having a strong background in business and operations management, as well as technology were also extremely advantageous, as it allowed Jerry to automate a lot of the things he discovered were constant challenges and issues for other photographers. Although his back office is constantly evolving, his existing processes are already heads and shoulders above most of his competitors, and have quickly allowed him to become one of the most highly rated, published photographers and videographers in San Diego.
