05/52 – Old Poway Park, Poway, California. By far, Old Poway Park is defnitely one of my favorite places to capture some amazing portraits of my clients. I’ve photographed graduations, engagements, maternity, family portraits and even fashion promo shoots all throughout the Old Poway Park, and I never leave disappointed! This scenic throwback to the early 20th Century California combines both rustic and historic buildings with breathtaking and beautiful natural landscapes. Don’t let it’s small size fool you… this park has so much to offer in terms of creative photography compositions! Whether it be family portraits on the old wood railroad bridge, individual portraits on the multiple wooden walking bridges, maternity photos nestled in the seculded natural portions of the park, or beautiful family or graudation portraits on the old train platform or against one of the many barns or buildings… you’re sure to never run out of creative opportunities at the Old Poway Park!
I usually try to avoid Saturdays here, as they throw a fabulous Farmer’s Market that draws a crowd, and that usually goes against my composition style. However, the old steam train stops running by 4p, giving me plenty of time to capture beautiful sunset photos all throughout the park. You’re sure to bump into tons of photographers here, so if you’re the outgoing, friendly type you can always pick up some good pointers from some of your peers.

This is cool for photos although there isn’t much to do there in terms of activities for adults.
Hey Dan! Thanks for your comment. Although the Old Poway Train is really just a ride for small children, the park itself is filled with lots of historical info for people who like that sort of stuff, as well a large, open picnic area that’s perfect for gatherings and barbeques. The Old Hamburger Factor restaurant is there too, if you get hungry or need a drink, and I hear (although I haven’t been yet) that the Saturday Farmer’s Market is filled with some pretty cool stuff!
